Statement
Through color and brush stroke I explore the lives of people, their depth, power of choice and ability to overcome great odds. For me the painting experience begins as a vision which is fixed in my mind and soul, often these come in the form of my dreams. Then my hands and brush take over and I create the face, stroke by stroke. My intuition guides me from color to color.
The portrait is what is left over from these experiences. The art itself takes on life and has been allowed to now create new memories in the minds of the viewers. The door has once again been opened to a familiar and revealing friend. In this way I allow the lessons learned and gifts given by my subjects to replay once again in our modern world.
My art is a process of uncovering and revealing the reflection of the personality and soul I paint, giving the subject new life and extending their voice for all to hear.
